What is an AAAA-record? How do I create / change it?

Have in mind it can take some time before any DNS changes take effect. Say for an A-record, CNAME, MX-record, TXT-record – It could easily take up to 4 hours. For name servers – it is about 24 hours. Occasionally it could reach up to 36 hours.

Similarly to the A-record, the AAAA-record (or the quad A-record) maps your domain name to an IP address. The difference is the A-record works with IPv4 (ex. 217.21.190.81) and the AAAA-record works with IPv6 (2002:0:0:0:0:0:d915:be51). To set up a AAAA-record follow the steps below:

  1. Log in your My.Register.eu hosting control panel (https://my.register.eu/en).

  2. At the top follow 'My Products' > 'DNS & Forwarding management'.

  3. Click on the 'AAAA' button or follow 'DNS & Forwarding' > 'AAAA-records'.

    2. Enter the value of the IPv6 record in the right text field.

Add destination + Time To Live (TTL)

    3. Click on '+ Add'.
